Templates: Creating Dinosaurs in Notion
Templates in Notion. One of the most useful, yet also most confusing, topics.
We’ve all been there. Created that beautiful page or layout that we want to reuse. Wished that every database entry would default to something more meaningful than “blank”.
We’re in Week 4 of our 100 days of Notion video series, accompanied by these longer-form articles.
A change compared to previous episodes is that I have been urged to slow down! My goal is still to create no-nonsense content, but I' have obliged and turned the tempo down slightly. Too slow for you? Speed me up using YouTubes controls!
This week’s episodes focus on:
The Template Button
Use it to generate dinosaurs, or any content you want, quickly and easily.Page Templates
We explore private templates for your own use, as well as how to share Notion Templates externally.Database Templates
Start to truly unlock the power of Notion! Every item and page in your database can be pre-filled with content and property values. Default templates and choosable ones.Templates in Templates
Turn your Page and Database Templates to 11 using the Templates in Templates technique. Prepare to add large, complex, sections easily, but hold of with actually creating them until needed.Layout Templates
Templates are often cumbersome to create in Notion. We’re creating a template gallery of layouts for easy re-use. See why you shouldn’t alt-drag complex layouts.Habit Tracker Template
Make use of the Layout Templates to create a simple checkbox-based Habit Tracker. This habit tracker template can also be downloaded.Long-Term Habit Tracker
We’re finishing off by creating a simple Long-Term Habit Tracker using simple tables.
